Jacksonville, FL (September 21, 2026) – On Friday night, September 18, a wrong-way driver prompted a serious crash that involved two other vehicles on I-95.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was behind the wheel of a van, which was heading north in the southbound lanes just south of Park Avenue.
Around 11 p.m., the van sideswiped an SUV. The SUV came to a controlled stop, but the van kept going. Moments later, the van hit a sedan head-on, and after the collision, both vehicles came to rest in the middle lane.
The driver was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he was later pronounced dead. The sedan's driver and a passenger were also taken there. The driver was seriously injured, and the passenger was critically hurt.
The person driving the SUV had minor injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the wreck.

Crash injuries often feel minor on the first day. Neck or back pain, headache, dizziness, numbness or tingling, and pain that is worse the next morning are all reasons to be checked.
Under Florida's no-fault law, personal injury protection medical benefits are available only if the injured person receives initial services and care within 14 days of the motor vehicle accident, under Fla. Stat. s. 627.736(1)(a). PIP pays 80 percent of reasonable expenses for medically necessary care, within the limits that apply to the claim. A chiropractic physician can provide that initial care, so a visit to any of our clinics within 14 days meets the requirement.
Call 911 or go to an emergency department for loss of consciousness, a headache that keeps getting worse, vomiting, confusion, numbness or weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain or trouble breathing.
