Putnam County, FL (October 2, 2026) – One was injured and three men were killed on Thursday, October 1, when a driver tried to pass two cars on State Road 100 near Bardin Road.
A driver was in one of three eastbound cars. He used the oncoming lane to pass the two cars ahead of him.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver failed to judge the distance to a westbound car before it moved back into the eastbound lane, and the two cars collided head-on.
The collision forced the eastbound car into one of the cars it had tried to pass, and both went into an embankment. The car of the driver who tried to pass overturned several times before it stopped.
A fourth car was also involved. It was the second car the driver had tried to pass, and it drove over the engine of the westbound car after that car spun several times and sent debris its way.
The driver that overturned died from his injuries. The two people in the westbound car also lost their lives. The driver of the first eastbound car was injured.
All lanes of State Road 100 west of Bardin have reopened. The investigation into the wreck remains open.

Crash injuries often feel minor on the first day. Neck or back pain, headache, dizziness, numbness or tingling, and pain that is worse the next morning are all reasons to be checked.
Under Florida's no-fault law, personal injury protection medical benefits are available only if the injured person receives initial services and care within 14 days of the motor vehicle accident, under Fla. Stat. s. 627.736(1)(a). PIP pays 80 percent of reasonable expenses for medically necessary care, within the limits that apply to the claim. A chiropractic physician can provide that initial care, so a visit to any of our clinics within 14 days meets the requirement.
Call 911 or go to an emergency department for loss of consciousness, a headache that keeps getting worse, vomiting, confusion, numbness or weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain or trouble breathing.
