Auto Accident Injury Clinic in Orange Park, FL

At Injury Care Centers, we understand how impactful a car accident can be, both physically and emotionally. We treat patients daily with whiplash, neck and back pain, herniated discs, concussions, and shoulder and knee injuries caused by collisions. Many of these are soft-tissue injuries that might not appear on standard X-rays and may not cause immediate pain.

Our Orange Park team conducts comprehensive evaluations, listens carefully to your concerns, and creates tailored treatment plans. We prioritize open communication so you are always informed about your healing process.

We also recognize how confusing recovery can be, with paperwork, insurance rules, and the Florida 14-day window for seeking treatment.  Our team is committed to guiding you through every step, ensuring you receive the care and answers you need.

If you’ve been in a car accident in Orange Park, don’t delay seeking help. Visit us on Wells Road, walk in during weekdays, or call today to begin your journey to recovery.

Do I Need to See a Doctor After a Car Accident?

Yes, even when nothing hurts yet. Adrenaline masks pain for the first several hours, and the swelling that causes most crash symptoms takes a day or two to build. An exam finds injuries before they settle in, and Florida’s 14-day insurance window starts the moment you are hit.

Get checked after a minor knock too. How your car looks tells you very little about your body, because the energy that does not bend the bumper has to go somewhere. And usually that somewhere is your neck and lower back. Modern bumpers survive low-speed hits without a mark, so a car that looks untouched is not evidence of anything.

Come in if anything is different since the crash. Stiffness, a headache, tingling in a hand, sleep that broke. Any of it is worth twenty minutes with a doctor, and the exam costs you nothing if it turns out to be nothing.

Car Crash Injuries on the Clay County Commute

Orange Park is a commuter market, and that shapes the injuries we see here.

A large share of people living in Orange Park and the surrounding Clay County communities drive north into Duval every weekday. That puts the daily risk on I-295, on the southern interchange, and on Blanding Boulevard, which are roads where traffic moves at speed and then stops without much warning.

Highway and arterial crashes at those speeds load the body fast, with no time to brace. That is where whiplash, disc injuries, and seat belt bruising come from. The other half of the local picture is retail. Wells Road and Blanding Boulevard carry dense frontage, entrances and turn lanes, and the crashes there happen slowly, at junctions and in parking areas, with more side impact and more twisting through the neck and lower back.

Low speed does not mean low injury. A side impact at 25 miles an hour bends and rotates the neck at the same time. And that combination is harder on the joints and nerve roots than a straight rear-end hit at a higher speed. It is a common reason somebody calls a crash minor and then arrives with symptoms that are not.

Crash Injuries We Treat

Our team is dedicated to treating pain and injuries from a wide range of causes. Here are some of the conditions we commonly see:

  • Neck and back - Whiplash and neck sprains, the most common crash injury we see - Low back pain and back strains - Herniated and bulging discs - Sciatica, a shooting pain down the leg from a pinched nerve - Facet joint pain, from the small joints in your spine - Tailbone and pelvis injuries.
  • Muscles, tendons and ligaments - Sprains, strains and torn ligaments - Rotator cuff and shoulder injuries from bracing on the wheel - ACL, PCL and meniscus tears - Seat belt bruising across the chest and stomach.
  • Head and nerve - Concussion, with or without loss of consciousness - Headaches and migraines that start after a crash - Nerve pain at the back of the head - Jaw pain and TMJ - Carpal tunnel, ulnar tunnel and pinched nerves - Numbness, tingling or weakness in the arms or legs.
  • Broken bones and other injuries - Fractures and fracture evaluation - Cuts and scrapes - Ongoing pain that started with a crash and never fully went away

We also help many patients who haven’t been in a crash. Our team treats arthritis and joint pain, tendinitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel, TMJ, chronic headaches and migraines, and long-standing back and neck pain.

Accidents can make existing problems worse. If you had back pain before your accident and it’s gotten worse, let us know at your first visit. You can find a complete list of conditions we treat on our injury clinic page.

What Symptoms Show Up Days After a Car Accident?

Stiffness, muscle soreness, and headaches usually appear one to three days after a crash, not at the scene. Swelling and protective muscle tightening build over the first 24 to 72 hours, which is why day two is often worse than day one. Numbness, tingling, dizziness, and trouble concentrating can also start late.

Keep an eye out for these symptoms during your first week after a crash:

  • Neck or back stiffness that is worse in the morning
  • A headache that started the day after
  • Numbness or tingling in an arm, hand, leg or foot
  • Pain that travels away from your spine instead of staying put
  • Dizziness, blurred vision, or ringing in your ears
  • Jaw pain, or a jaw that clicks
  • Trouble sleeping, or trouble focusing at work

Pain that travels matters most on that list. It usually means a nerve is involved, and that changes both what we look for and how quickly we want to see you. Our guide on what to do after a car accident walks through the first week in order.

What Happens at Your First Visit

Your first visit typically lasts about an hour, with most of the time spent on your exam.

We begin by asking about the details of your accident, how it happened, which direction the impact came from, whether you were stopped or moving, and where your head was turned. These details help us know what to look for before starting your physical exam. Next, we’ll assess your range of motion, test muscle strength, check reflexes, and look for numbness along each nerve path.

We track these measurements carefully. For example, knowing you have 45 degrees of neck rotation lets us compare your progress at future visits and give you honest feedback about improvement. General descriptions like “neck pain” aren’t as helpful, since they’re hard to measure over time.

If your exam suggests you need imaging, we’ll order it right away. Treatment usually starts on your first visit, and you’ll leave with a clear diagnosis, a treatment plan, and a schedule for follow-up appointments.

Please bring your photo ID, auto insurance information, and any paperwork from other doctors or hospitals if you have it. If not, come in anyway; we’ll help you get started.

Treatments We Offer

Your treatment plan is tailored to what we find during your exam.

Hands-on care includes chiropractic adjustments for stiff joints, massage and myofascial release for tense muscles, and stretching therapy to restore your movement.

Rehab involves physical therapy, physical medicine, and a focused list of home exercises. We keep your program manageable, just two or three exercises, because longer lists rarely get done.

Non-surgical pain relief options include spinal decompression for disc injuries, laser therapy, shockwave and PiezoWave, TECAR, HEIT, electrical muscle stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, and PRP.

Medical care may include interventional pain management (such as injections and prescriptions) and concussion or brain injury evaluation.

Regenerative and recovery therapies are also available. Our Biotarget Therapy program combines non-surgical treatments like HEIT, laser, shockwave, and TECAR with physical medicine. Disc Rejuvenation Therapy is designed for disc-related neck and back pain. Both programs begin with a medical evaluation.

Telemedicine is also available for follow-up visits that don’t require an in-person exam, which is helpful for those who can’t miss work.

We regularly review your progress as you go. If you’re not improving as expected, we’ll adjust your plan or look deeper for answers, instead of just scheduling more of the same appointments.

What Testing Is Available, and Where

We have digital X-ray in our clinics, plus nerve conduction studies, EEG, and brain injury evaluation. MRI is at our University Boulevard South location in Jacksonville. There is no MRI in Orange Park, so if your exam calls for one, we book you there instead of sending you outside the practice. That is useful to know before you need it. X-rays show broken bones and how your spine lines up. And they cannot show discs, ligaments, or nerves, which is why a clear X-ray does not mean you are uninjured.

MRI shows the soft tissue an X-ray misses. We order it when symptoms point to a disc or a nerve, or when you are not improving the way we would expect. It is a drive, and we only send you for one when the answer will change your treatment.

We also will not order a scan you do not need. Imaging without a clear question usually turns up something minor that has been sitting there for years, and chasing it pulls your treatment off track. You can read more about the X-ray and MRI in our clinics before you come in.

Will My Insurance Cover Car Accident Treatment?

In Florida, your own auto insurance pays first, no matter who caused the crash. Every policy includes personal injury protection, which covers medical care up to your limit, and you have to be seen within 14 days for it to apply. Health insurance and payment plans are also options.

Under Florida’s no-fault law, those benefits are available only if you receive initial services and care within 14 days of the accident. There is a second step people rarely hear about: your policy can pay up to $10,000. But only once a medical doctor, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner confirms you had an emergency medical condition. Without it, insurers usually cap the benefit at $2,500. We have both a medical doctor and a nurse practitioner on staff, so that happens inside the practice.

No insurance at all? We still see you. Call 904-783-0008 and ask about our Affordable Plans.

Working with an attorney? Tell us at the first visit. We send your records whenever you ask, through the normal release process. We treat the injury and leave the claim to you and your lawyer.

How Long Does It Take to Recover From a Car Accident?

Most people with muscle and joint injuries start to feel a lot better within four to eight weeks. Disc and nerve injuries can take longer and don’t always follow a set timeline. We check your progress at every visit and adjust your plan based on how you’re actually doing, not just a schedule on paper.

There are a few ways to help recovery go faster. Getting treatment early makes a difference; injuries treated in the first week heal quicker than those left for a month. Staying active helps too, since too much bed rest can weaken the muscles that support your spine. Doing your home exercises is key, as these do more for your long-term recovery than anything else.

Take care of your sleep. Poor sleep can increase pain and slow down healing. If you’re having trouble sleeping after your accident, let us know; there are ways we can help with that too.

Keep up with your appointments, even when you’re feeling good. Recovery isn’t always a straight path, and having a tough day doesn’t mean your plan isn’t working.

What To Do in the First 24 Hours After a Crash

The steps in the first day are simple, and doing them in order makes everything afterward easier.

Get checked, even if you feel okay. This is the one people skip, and it is the one that costs them.

Photograph everything while you are still there. Both vehicles, the whole scene, the other driver’s insurance card and license plate.

Get the crash report number. If an officer came out, ask for it before you leave. Inside the Town of Orange Park, that report comes from the Orange Park Police Department. Outside town limits, in the unincorporated parts of Clay County, it comes from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Two crashes a mile apart can mean two different agencies.

Tell your insurance company. Report the accident even if the other driver was at fault, because your own policy pays your medical benefits in Florida.

Write down how you feel. Do it that night, and again the next morning. People forget details fast, and this list helps your doctor more than you would expect.

Do not post about it. Insurance companies do look at social media.

One more thing useful to know. If the other driver’s insurer calls asking for a recorded statement in the first few days, you are allowed to say you would like to be examined first. You cannot describe an injury accurately before anyone has looked at it.

Can I Bring My Child In After a Crash?

Yes, and it’s important that you do. Children have relatively larger heads and weaker neck muscles, so that a crash can affect them differently than adults. They also may not be able to describe their symptoms well, sometimes because they’re watching the adults to see how to react.

Pay attention to changes in their behavior rather than waiting for them to complain. If your child stops turning their head, wants to be carried more than usual, is sleeping differently, or seems unusually irritable after a crash, these could be signs something is wrong.

Florida’s 14-day window for getting checked after an accident applies to children, too.

When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead

Most crash injuries can wait for a clinic appointment, but a few can’t. It helps to know the difference before you’re left deciding late at night.

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you loseusness, have a  haveheadache that keeps getting worse, areare vomiting repeatedly, feel confused or haveused or have troub experiencele speaking, experience nyour arms or legs, lose control of your bladder or bowels, haveontrol of yrapidladder or bowels, have severe or rapidly worsening pain, chest pain, or trouble breathing.

Serious trauma in Clay County is treated at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, a Level II trauma center. That means the most severe injuries are cared for locally.

If none of these apply and you’re just feeling sore, stiff, or concerned, come see us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment?

No, our Orange Park clinic takes walk-in patients on weekdays. Call 904-783-0008 on weekends and ask for a same-day visit.

Can I be seen without insurance?

Yes, we treat patients with or without insurance, and our team explains your options before treatment starts.

My car barely has a scratch. Is it worth being examined?

Yes, vehicle damage is a poor predictor of injury, and low-speed crashes commonly cause neck and back problems.

Can you have whiplash and not feel it right away?

Yes, and it is common. Whiplash pain often starts a day or two later as swelling and muscle tightening build.

Is there an MRI in Orange Park?

Not at our clinic. MRI is at our University Boulevard South location in Jacksonville, and we book you there when your exam calls for one.

What happens if I miss the 14-day window?

You can still be treated, and paying for it gets harder. Florida law ties your auto insurance medical benefits to being seen within 14 days.

Do you treat injuries that are not from a car accident?

Yes, work injuries, sports injuries, slips and falls, and everyday joint and muscle pain are all treated here.

Why Choose Injury Care Centers in Orange Park

We opened in 2010 to fix one problem. Soft-tissue injuries from car accidents get missed when they are seen alongside coughs, fevers, and everything else, so we built clinics where treating pain and injuries is all we do.

Injury Care Centers has chiropractic physicians, a medical doctor, and a nurse practitioner working from the same plan, with digital X-ray in the building and treatment starting on your first visit. Dr. Adam Francis is the chiropractic physician covering our Orange Park clinic.

You have 14 days to protect your medical benefits, and less time than that before the details of the crash start to blur. Come to Wells Road on any weekday, or call 904-783-0008, and we will tell you what to bring. Addresses and hours for all our locations are on the site.
