Auto Accident Injury Clinic in Yulee, FL

At our Yulee clinic, our team specializes in helping people recover after car accidents. We treat a wide range of injuries, including whiplash, neck and back pain, herniated discs, concussions, and shoulder or knee issues that can happen during a crash. Many of these are soft-tissue injuries, which often don’t show up on a standard X-ray and may not become painful until a day or two after the accident.

In Florida, it’s important to know that you have just 14 days after an accident to get examined if you want your auto insurance to cover your injuries. Our team is here to guide you through every step, from your first visit to your full recovery.

At Injury Care Centers, our entire team is committed to helping you heal and feel better. Our Yulee location on Homegrown Way welcomes walk-in patients on weekdays, no referral needed. We know how stressful a car accident can be, so we make the process easy and supportive from the moment you walk in.

If you’ve been in a car accident, don’t wait to get the care you need. Visit our Yulee clinic or contact us today, and let our team help you get back on your feet.

Do I Need to See a Doctor After a Car Accident?

Yes, even if you do not feel pain right away. Adrenaline can mask pain for several hours, and the swelling that causes most crash symptoms often takes a day or two to develop. A medical exam can identify injuries before they become apparent, and Florida’s 14-day insurance window begins immediately after the accident.

Get checked after a minor accident too. The appearance of your car often does not reflect what happened to your body, because the energy from the impact still gets absorbed, often by your neck and lower back. Modern bumpers can withstand low-speed collisions without showing damage, so a car that looks fine does not mean you are uninjured.

Come in if you notice any changes after the crash, stiffness, headaches, tingling in your hand, or disrupted sleep. It is always worth having these checked, and there is no cost if the exam finds nothing.

Car Crash Injuries at Exit 373 and on the I-95 Commute

Yulee sits where the interstate meets the road to the island, and that shapes the injuries we see here.

Exit 373 puts I-95 traffic onto SR 200 and A1A, and it is the single busiest movement in the market. Traffic arrives at interstate speed, slows for the exit, queues at the lights, and then merges again heading east or west. Every one of those transitions produces the rear-end and side-impact crashes that hurt necks and lower backs.

The other major factor is the daily commute. Many Nassau County residents drive south into Duval County on I-95 each weekday, and interstate crashes happen quickly with little time to brace. This is why we see so many cases of whiplash, disc injuries, and seat belt bruising.

Interstate speeds also mean a different injury profile from a town-center market. There is less low-speed parking-lot damage here and more of the sudden deceleration that throws a head forward and back through its full range before the muscles can respond. The SR 200 corridor east toward Amelia Island adds turning traffic, and the growth around Wildlight has put more cars on roads that were quiet a few years ago. That combination, fast roads and rising volume, is the local pattern.

Crash Injuries and Pain We Treat

Treating pain and injuries is all we do. Here is the range.

  • Neck and back - Whiplash and neck sprains, the most common crash injury we see - Low back pain and back strains - Herniated and bulging discs - Sciatica, a shooting pain down the leg from a pinched nerve - Facet joint pain, from the small joints in your spine - Tailbone and pelvis injuries.
  • Muscles, tendons and ligaments - Sprains, strains and torn ligaments - Rotator cuff and shoulder injuries from bracing on the wheel - ACL, PCL and meniscus tears - Seat belt bruising across the chest and stomach.
  • Head and nerve - Concussion, with or without loss of consciousness - Headaches and migraines that start after a crash - Nerve pain at the back of the head - Jaw pain and TMJ - Carpal tunnel, ulnar tunnel and pinched nerves - Numbness, tingling or weakness in the arms or legs.
  • Broken bones and other injuries - Fractures and fracture evaluation - Cuts and scrapes - Ongoing pain that started with a crash and never fully went away.
  • Pain with no accident behind it. Plenty of our patients were never in a crash. We treat arthritis and joint pain, tendinitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel, TMJ, chronic headaches and migraines, and back and neck trouble that has been there for years.

A crash also flares things that were already present, so if your back was bad before the accident and it is much worse now, say so at the first visit. The full list is on our injury clinic page.

What Symptoms Show Up Days After a Car Accident?

Stiffness, muscle soreness, and headaches usually appear one to three days after a crash, not at the scene. Swelling and protective muscle tightening build over the first 24 to 72 hours, which is why day two is often worse than day one. Numbness, tingling, dizziness, and trouble concentrating can also start late.

Watch for these during the first week:

  • Neck or back stiffness that is worse in the morning
  • A headache that started the day after
  • Numbness or tingling in an arm, hand, leg or foot
  • Pain that travels away from your spine instead of staying put
  • Dizziness, blurred vision, or ringing in your ears
  • Jaw pain, or a jaw that clicks
  • Trouble sleeping, or trouble focusing at work

Pain that travels matters most on that list. It usually means a nerve is involved, and that changes both what we look for and how quickly we want to see you. Our guide on what to do after a car accident walks through the first week in order.

What Happens at Your First Visit

Plan on about an hour, and most of it is the exam.

Your doctor starts with the crash itself: which direction the impact came from, whether you were stopped or moving, whether you saw it coming, where your head was turned, whether your foot was on the brake. Those answers tell us where to look before anyone touches you, because a rear-end hit in a queue and a side impact at a junction damage completely different things. Then we measure. How far you can turn and bend, strength tested muscle by muscle, reflexes, and numbness checked along each nerve path.

We document your measurements, which is more important than it may seem. For example, “45 degrees of neck rotation to the right” is something we can recheck after three weeks to track your progress. Simply noting “neck pain” does not allow for this kind of comparison.

If the exam raises a question a scan can answer, we order it that day. Treatment starts on the same visit, and you leave knowing your diagnosis, your plan, how often you will need to come in, and what would change any of it.

Bring your photo ID, auto insurance information, and anything another doctor or hospital gave you. If you do not have all of it, come anyway.

Treatments We Offer

Your plan depends on what the exam finds.

  • Hands-on care. Chiropractic adjustments for stiff joints, massage and myofascial release for the muscles that tighten around them, and stretching therapy to get your movement back.
  • Rehab. Physical therapy, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and a short list of exercises you do at home. We keep that list to two or three things, because a program of eight gets abandoned in a week.
  • Non-surgical pain relief. Spinal decompression for disc injuries, laser therapy, shockwave and PiezoWave, TECAR, HEIT, electrical muscle stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, and PRP.
  • Medical care. Interventional pain management including injections, prescriptions, and concussion and brain injury evaluation.
  • Regenerative and recovery therapies. Our Biotarget Therapy program combines non-surgical treatments such as HEIT, laser, shockwave, and TECAR with physical medicine. Disc Rejuvenation Therapy is designed for disc-related neck and back pain. Both begin with a medical evaluation.
  • Telemedicine is available for follow-ups that do not need an in-person exam, which helps when the alternative is losing a shift.

We review your treatment plan as you progress. If you are not improving as expected, we adjust your approach or investigate further, rather than simply continuing the same routine.

What Testing Is Available, and Where

We have digital X-ray in our clinics, plus nerve conduction studies, EEG, and brain injury evaluation. MRI is at our University Boulevard South location in Jacksonville. There is no MRI in Yulee, so if your exam calls for one, we book you there instead of sending you outside the practice.

That is useful to know before you need it. X-rays show broken bones and how your spine lines up, and they cannot show discs, ligaments, or nerves, which is why a clear X-ray does not mean you are uninjured.

MRI shows the soft tissue an X-ray misses. We order it when symptoms point to a disc or a nerve, or when you are not improving the way we would expect. It is a drive south, and we only send you for one when the answer will change your treatment.

We also avoid ordering unnecessary scans. Imaging without a clear reason often finds minor issues that have existed for years, and pursuing them can distract from your recovery. You can learn more about the X-ray and MRI options in our clinics before your visit.

Will My Insurance Cover Car Accident Treatment?

In Florida, your own auto insurance pays first, no matter who caused the crash. Every policy includes personal injury protection, which covers medical care up to your limit, and you have to be seen within 14 days for it to apply. Health insurance and payment plans are also options.

Under Florida’s no-fault law, those benefits are available only if you receive initial services and care within 14 days of the accident. There is a second step people rarely hear about: your policy can pay up to $10,000, but only once a medical doctor, physician assistant or nurse practitioner confirms you had an emergency medical condition. Without it, insurers usually cap the benefit at $2,500. We have both a medical doctor and a nurse practitioner on staff, so that happens inside the practice.

No insurance at all? We still see you. Call 904-783-0008 and ask about our Affordable Plans.

Working with an attorney? Tell us at the first visit. We send your records whenever you ask, through the normal release process. We treat the injury and leave the claim to you and your lawyer.

Car Accident Care If Your Crash Happened Over the Georgia Line

Nassau County is the northeasternmost county in Florida, and the Georgia state line sits just north across the St. Marys River. Plenty of people here cross it regularly, whether for work at Kings Bay or simply for the drive to St. Marys or Kingsland.

If your crash happened on the Georgia side, the legal and insurance position is different. The rules about deadlines, fault and who pays for your medical care do not work the way this page describes, because everything on this page is Florida law.

We are not going to summarize Georgia law for you, because getting it half right would be worse than saying nothing. What we would tell you is to speak to a lawyer promptly if your crash was over the line, since assuming the Florida rules apply is the mistake that costs people.

We do not provide summaries of Georgia law, because giving you incomplete information could be misleading. If your accident happened in Georgia, we recommend speaking to a lawyer promptly because assuming Florida’s rules apply can lead to costly mistakes.

How Long Does It Take to Recover From a Car Accident?

Most people with muscle and joint injuries feel much better within four to eight weeks. Disc and nerve injuries take longer and improve less predictably. Your doctor measures your progress at each visit and adjusts the plan based on how you are actually responding, not a fixed schedule.

A few things speed it up. Start early, because injuries treated in the first week settle faster than ones left for a month. Keep moving, because bed rest past the first day or two weakens the muscles that support your spine. Do the home exercises, which do more of the long-term work than anything that happens in our treatment room.

Protect your sleep. Poor sleep raises your pain levels and slows healing, and if the crash wrecked your sleep, say so, because that is treatable on its own.

Come back on the good weeks too. Recovery is not a straight line, and a bad Wednesday does not mean the plan failed.

What To Do in the First 24 Hours After a Crash

The steps in the first day are simple, and doing them in order makes everything afterward easier.

  • Get checked, even if you feel okay. This is the one people skip, and it is the one that costs them.
  • Photograph everything while you are still there. Both vehicles, the whole scene, the other driver’s insurance card and license plate.
  • Get the crash report number. If an officer came out, ask for it before you leave. Yulee is unincorporated, so that is usually the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Tell your insurance company. Report the accident even if the other driver was at fault, because your own policy pays your medical benefits in Florida.
  • Write down how you feel. Do it that night, and again the next morning. People forget details fast, and this list helps your doctor more than you would expect.
  • Do not post about it. Insurance companies do look at social media.

When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead

Most crash injuries can wait for a clinic appointment. A few cannot, and it helps to know which before you are deciding at 11 pm.

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you have loss of consciousness, a headache that keeps getting worse, repeated vomiting, confusion or trouble speaking, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg, loss of bladder or bowel control, severe or quickly worsening pain, chest pain, or trouble breathing.

Those are the presentations where an ambulance and an emergency department are the right answer, and nothing on this page should slow that decision down.

If none of that applies and you are sore, stiff, or worried, come and see us.

What If You Were a Passenger, Cyclist or Pedestrian?

We treat you the same way. Passengers, cyclists, pedestrians, motorcycle riders, and rideshare passengers all get the same exam and the same treatment options as drivers.

The insurance side works differently depending on your situation, and it is worth asking early. A passenger in someone else’s car, a pedestrian struck at a crossing, and a rideshare passenger each have a different coverage path, and our team sorts that out at the first visit.

The injuries differ too. Cyclists and pedestrians have no seat belt and no vehicle absorbing the impact, so we see more shoulder, hip, and wrist injuries alongside head injuries. Motorcycle riders come in with road rash, shoulder injuries, and wrist fractures from breaking a fall.

The 14-day rule applies to all of it. If you were hit while walking, riding, or sitting in someone else’s car, get checked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment?

No, our Yulee clinic takes walk-in patients on weekdays. Call 904-783-0008 on weekends and ask for a same-day visit.

Can I be seen without insurance?

Yes, we treat patients with or without insurance, and our team explains your options before treatment starts.

My car barely has a scratch. Is it worth being examined?

Yes, vehicle damage is a poor predictor of injury, and even lower-speed crashes commonly cause neck and back problems.

Can you have whiplash and not feel it right away?

Yes, and it is common. Whiplash pain often starts a day or two later as swelling and muscle tightening build.

Is there an MRI in Yulee?

Not at our clinic. MRI is at our University Boulevard South location in Jacksonville, and we book you there when your exam calls for one.

What happens if I miss the 14-day window?

You can still be treated, and paying for it gets harder. Florida law ties your auto insurance medical benefits to being seen within 14 days.

My crash was in Georgia. Does this still apply?

The medical care does. The insurance and legal position is different over the state line, so speak to a lawyer promptly about that side of it.

Why Choose Injury Care Centers in Yulee

We opened in 2010 to fix one problem. Soft-tissue injuries from car accidents get missed when they are seen alongside coughs, fevers, and everything else, so we built clinics where treating pain and injuries is all we do.

Injury Care Centers has chiropractic physicians, a medical doctor, and a nurse practitioner working from the same plan, with digital X-ray in the building and treatment starting on your first visit. Dr. Chris Hopkins is the chiropractic physician covering our Yulee clinic.

You have 14 days to protect your medical benefits, and less time than that before the details of the crash start to blur. Come to Homegrown Way on any weekday, or call 904-783-0008, and we will tell you what to bring. Addresses and hours for all our locations are on the site.
