CONCUSSIONS

A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that affects your brain function. Effects are usually temporary but can include headaches and problems with concentration, memory, balance, and coordination. A concussion is most often caused by a sudden direct blow or bumps to the head. Concussions could stem from a slip or fall, sports injury, or a car accident. Concussions can be life-threatening, and you should visit the ER within 24 hours of a head injury to receive the proper medical treatment. If you’re still suffering from the effects of a concussion after a hospital visit, our doctors can treat and evaluate the cause related to your symptoms.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

While there is no cure-all for a concussion, a combination of treatments can alleviate the symptoms and improve your recovery. The best way to recover is to rest. If headaches, nausea, dizziness, balance problems, or confusion persist, our specialists may perform a neurological exam to check your vision, hearing, strength, balance, coordination, and reflexes.
